Supplements
Nutrients in a tested composition, made in Germany. Which product is right for you, and in what amount, depends on your values — which is why at ORY measuring comes before supplementing.
Food supplements are no substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

What may be said, and where it comes from
For nutrients there is a vetted catalogue of permitted statements. It is set out in Regulation (EU) No 432/2012, and every entry rests on an opinion from the European Food Safety Authority. The wording is fixed — anything not on the list may not be claimed.
The Condition column names the amount from which a claim applies. Whether it applies to you depends on your values.

| Coenzyme Q10 | No authorised claim. The body makes Q10 itself; the applications on heart and energy were rejected. | — | EFSA, abgelehnt |
| Amino acids | No authorised claim. | — | EFSA, abgelehnt |
| Probiotic cultures | No authorised claim. The word “probiotic” counts as a claim in itself and is not permitted on foods. | — | EFSA, ausgesetzt |
Authorised does not mean effective for you
The claims describe what a nutrient contributes to in the body — not that a supplement will change anything for you. That depends on whether you are short of that nutrient.
Not authorised does not mean disproven
For coenzyme Q10, amino acids and probiotic cultures, applications were rejected or never decided. Studies exist, but the authority does not consider them enough for a binding claim.
Checkable, not just claimed
Every claim on our product pages appears word for word in the EU register. You will not find wording such as “optimised” or “scientifically based” with us.
You can look this up in the EU Register of nutrition and health claims and in the EFSA opinions. What a value means in your situation is something you discuss with a practitioner.
When to take what

Common questions on supplements
How do I know which supplement is right for me?
From your measured values. An analysis shows which values fall inside the laboratory's reference range and which do not. Only then do you decide with a practitioner whether and how much to supplement.
This page recommends nothing. If you want to start without a lab report, the free initial consultation is the right first step.
When do I take food supplements?
Fat-soluble nutrients such as vitamin D, vitamin K and omega 3 with a meal containing fat. Magnesium in the evening, amino acids on an empty stomach, iron and zinc well apart from coffee, tea and dairy products.
The table “When do I take what” on this page lists every product with the time of day, its relation to meals and interactions. The label is what counts.
Which supplements should I not take together?
Iron, zinc, calcium and magnesium share transport routes in the gut and should be taken at least two hours apart. Coffee, black tea and green tea reduce the absorption of iron and zinc.
If you take medicines at the same time, are pregnant or are breastfeeding, speak to a practitioner first.
What does a single marker in my lab report mean?
Every value appears in the lab report with the laboratory's reference range. What it means in your situation is something you discuss with a practitioner.
The markers are described with their reference ranges in the reference work at biomarker.ory-berlin.de.
Is supplementing worthwhile if uptake in the gut is disturbed?
A nutrient only acts as far as it is broken down and taken up. With persistent digestive complaints it makes sense to measure digestive performance and the gut barrier first.
The gut profile reports breakdown, absorption and gut flora. For fat-soluble nutrients, fat digestion matters as well.
Are the products vegan and free from additives?
For every product, the ingredients list and the nutritional values per daily portion are on the product page. Omega 3 vegan comes from the microalga Schizochytrium sp., with no fish content.
The filters above narrow the overview down to vegan products and products without additives.
How long does shipping take?
Orders go out the next working day; delivery within Germany takes one to three days. Shipping is free from €50 order value.
Collection at Ory in Berlin is usually ready in four hours.
