Gut Microbiome Check-up - ORY Analysis
Testing for leaky gut and absorption problems
Diagnostics for leaky gut and malabsorption disorders examine the function of the intestinal barrier, digestive performance, immune activity, and inflammatory markers. It provides crucial information about intestinal health and enables targeted therapy to sustainably improve digestion, nutrient absorption, and immune balance.
Why is stool testing worthwhile?
The gut is considered a central control organ for health, immune defense, and well-being. A functioning intestinal mucosa and a balanced microbiome are crucial for a strong immune system and stable digestion.
With the ORY stool analysis, we specifically record important parameters that can provide indications of intolerances, digestive disorders, or inflammatory processes – often before they become clinically apparent.
Our Diagnostic Solutions
We believe: true health arises where body, mind and soul come together.
At the centre of our approach stand three fundamental pillars of inner health:
FAQ's
Understanding causes, not just symptoms
Many complaints such as fatigue, digestive problems, stress or skin problems have deeper causes in the metabolism, gut or hormone system.
Laboratory diagnostics helps to:
- Identify imbalances in the body
- Understand the causes of symptoms
- Treat specifically instead of "blindly"
Example: Stool diagnostics can reveal changes in the intestinal flora or digestion, such as an imbalance of certain bacteria or an altered pH value.
Spotting early warning signs in the gut
Many changes in health begin long before symptoms appear.
Testing can show early on:
- inflammatory processes
- digestive problems
- stress load
- changes in the microbiome
- a shortage of important bacteria
That allows steps to be taken before larger problems develop.
Individual gut therapy instead of one standard
Every person has an individual metabolism and a unique microbiome.
Testing allows therapy to be personalised:
- targeted nutrition
- suitable supplements
- gut rebuilding programmes
- stress regulation
- targeted medical treatment
This markedly increases how well the therapy works.
The link between gut, immune system and energy
A large part of the immune system sits in the gut. Energy, mood and metabolism are also closely tied to gut health.
Testing can show, for example:
- the state of the gut flora
- mucosal immunity (e.g. sIgA)
- inflammatory markers
- possible signs of leaky gut
- digestive performance
Together these values give a broad picture of health.
Taking charge of your own health with Ory Analysis
Many people want to understand and improve their health actively, rather than reacting only once illness appears.
Testing makes possible:
- transparency about your own state of health
- targeted prevention
- long-term improvement of energy, performance and wellbeing
Digestion & Intolerance Check: Holistic Bundle
🧠 The Gut as the Body's Control Center
The gut influences almost all bodily processes via the enteric nervous system, hormones, and the immune system – including:
Immune system (70–80% resides in the gut)
Metabolism & weight
Skin & mucous membrane health
Hormone system & mood
Inflammation regulation
Nutrient absorption & energy production🛠️
What is the ORY stool analysis particularly suitable for?
For chronic complaints without a clear cause
For gastrointestinal symptoms such as bloating, diarrhea, fullness, irritable bowel syndrome
For skin problems (eczema, acne, neurodermatitis)
For exhaustion, sleep problems, migraines
For intolerances (lactose, histamine, fructose)
As preventive care, to detect inflammation, imbalances, or barrier disorders early
✅ Conclusion: A valuable comprehensive view of your health
ORY stool diagnostics offers a tailor-made health profile of your gut – with specific values on digestion, microbiome, immune response, and possible burdens from fungi, histamine, or enzyme deficiency.
This allows for early derivation of therapies, dietary adjustments, or targeted gut-building measures – before symptoms become chronic.
The gut lining forms a highly complex barrier between the outside world (food, bacteria) and the body’s inner environment. This barrier is made up of:
- intestinal epithelial cells
- tight junctions (connecting proteins between cells)
- the mucus layer
- immune cells of the gut lining
When this barrier is disturbed, incompletely digested food components, bacterial endotoxins or inflammatory substances can pass into the bloodstream more easily.
Markers such as zonulin give clues about how these tight junctions are regulated, and so about the permeability of the gut barrier.
For the body to utilize energy and micronutrients, food components must be properly digested and absorbed.
The diagnostics analyze, among other things:
- Fat and sugar residues in the stool
- Nitrogen as an indicator of protein digestion
- Digestive enzymes of the pancreas
Increased digestive residues may indicate that digestive processes or enzymatic breakdown of food are impaired.
This information is important because even a healthy diet has little effect if digestion does not function optimally.
Approximately 70–80% of the immune system is located in the gut. The intestinal mucosa constantly reacts to:
- Food
- Bacteria of the microbiome
- Environmental substances
A key marker for this is secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA).
This antibody protects the intestinal mucosa and regulates the contact between the immune system and the gut microbiome.
Changes can indicate increased immune activity or chronic stress on the intestinal mucosa.
Chronic inflammation, often unnoticed, can cause many complaints:
- digestive problems
- fatigue
- skin problems
- food intolerances
Markers such as calprotectin or alpha-1 antitrypsin give clues about inflammatory processes or about changes in the gut barrier.
These parameters help to tell whether complaints are more functional or more inflammatory in origin.
The gut affects many central systems in the body:
- the immune system
- hormone metabolism
- energy production
- the nervous system (gut-brain axis)
When digestion, the microbiome or the gut barrier are disturbed, this can also lead to:
- chronic inflammation
- metabolic disturbances
- fatigue and a drop in performance.
Testing helps to make these systemic connections visible.
Contents of a Comprehensive Stool Analysis
🔬What does comprehensive stool diagnostics examine?
Bifidobacteria, lactobacilli, and bacteroides should be present in a balanced way
Clostridia in small amounts are normal
An excess of clostridia can be pro-inflammatory
Indication of dysbiosis or a weakened microbiome
Yeasts & Fungi
Candida, Geotrichum: An excess of yeasts can indicate a disturbed environment, a weakened immune system, or a sugar-rich diet.
→ Early indication of intestinal fungal overgrowth and possible systemic complaints.
Chair Properties
- pH value: shows whether the gut environment is on the acidic (healthy) or alkaline (problematic) side.
- Colour & consistency: clues about bile acid excretion, fat digestion and transit time.
Digestive performance
Fat, nitrogen, sugar, water in stool: Indicate whether food is properly broken down and absorbed.
→ Indication of maldigestion (e.g., enzyme deficiency), malabsorption, or irritable bowel syndrome symptoms.
Enzyme Activity & Digestive Power
Pancreatic elastase: Shows whether there are enough digestive enzymes from the pancreas.
Bile acids: Crucial for fat digestion – deficiencies can lead to malabsorption.
Barrier Function & Inflammation
(Also measurable: calprotectin, zonulin, alpha-1 antitrypsin): markers for inflammatory processes or a permeable gut wall (“leaky gut”).→ Important clues with autoimmune conditions, food intolerances and allergies.
🔋 Cell Energy & ATP Production
Real vitality depends on our cells being able to produce enough energy – in the form of ATP. Only then can processes such as regeneration, immune function and mental clarity work at their best.
🌀 Balance in the Autonomic Nervous System
A harmonious interplay between the sympathetic (activity) and parasympathetic (recovery) nervous systems is decisive. This balance is part of recovery and inner calm.
♻️ Resorption & Detoxification
Your body needs to absorb nutrients properly and at the same time clear toxins effectively. Only when both are in balance can its self-healing powers work fully.
Testimonials
I have tried several different probiotics over the past 5 years. Many of them were good. This one seems a touch better, and within a month-long course, a healthy gut flora is re-established, and bowel movements gradually improve.

Do I have to see a doctor to do the test?
No. We can either send you the relevant test set, or you collect it here at the practice. The test is then yours to do at home. If you are unsure which test set is right for you, we are happy to advise.
Does the test replace a visit to the doctor?
No. If you have symptoms – acute or long-standing – it makes sense to see a doctor and have them looked into. The test results can still point the way and help with further investigation.
Anything special to watch out for?
Yes. Every product and every test set has a product description setting out any conditions and requirements that have to be met. Please read the instructions for use carefully.
How long until I get the results?
Evaluation takes 7 to 21 days from the arrival of the sample at the laboratory — not from the order. Exactly how long depends on the method: sequencing the gut flora takes longer than a measurement from capillary blood.
Can I order the test for someone else?
Yes, though it is important that the details of the person being tested are entered on the request form:
• name
• date of birth
• phone number
Please correct the request form if we have already filled something in.
Do I get help interpreting my results?
Yes. Every test includes a free results consultation – either by phone or in person here at the practice. Please arrange an appointment with us by phone or email.
