FAQs
Do I have to see a doctor to do the test?
No. We can either post the right test kit to you, or you can collect it here at the practice. The test is then one you do at home yourself. If you are not sure which kit is right for you, we are happy to advise.
Does the test replace a visit to the doctor?
No. If you have symptoms – acute or chronic – it makes sense to see a doctor and get them properly assessed. The test results can still give useful pointers for further investigation.
Do I need to bear anything in mind?
Yes. Every product and every test kit has a product description that may set out different conditions and requirements. Please read the instructions carefully.
How long until I get my results?
The evaluation takes 7 to 21 days from the arrival of the sample at the laboratory — not from the order. How long exactly depends on the method: sequencing the gut flora takes longer than a reading from capillary blood.
Do I get help understanding my results?
Yes. Every analysis includes a free results consultation – either by phone or in person here at the practice. Please book an appointment with us by phone or email.
Can I order the test for someone else?
Yes, but it is important that the details of the person being tested are entered on the request form:
• Name
• Date of birth
• Phone number
Please also correct the request form where we have already filled something in.
